Scuba Diving at La Corbeteña, Puerto Vallarta


It’s a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to dive at La Corbeteña, a site known for its crystal-clear waters and outstanding visibility.

Situated northwest of Puerto Vallarta, 36 miles from the shore, La Corbeteña beckons underwater explorers to showcase their skills and expertise by navigating hidden caves, enchanting arches, and steep ocean walls.

Once you descend beneath the waves, brace yourself for thrilling close encounters with incredible sea life, including huge schools of jacks, giant rays, reef sharks, sailfish, marlin, and even majestic whale sharks.

When it comes to scuba diving in Puerto Vallarta, El Sequial is an absolute must. Located just beyond the reaches of Banderas Bay, it boasts a one-of-a-kind submerged tabletop island teeming with an abundance of marine life.

While our experienced PADI-certified guides are eager to lead you on an incredible journey to explore the depths of these amazing underwater destinations, certification is an absolute requirement for your safety and enjoyment.

Scuba diving at La Corbeteña and El Sequial is a 2 tank experience, offering double the excitement.

You'll have a separate tank of air for each dive site, allowing you to explore depths of up to 60 feet. For more advanced divers, there are also opportunities to venture even deeper and explore areas where obstacles and low visibility may provide challenges for less experienced divers.

  • Please arrive at the check-in point 30 minutes before departure.
  • The minimum age to dive at La Corbeteña and El Sequial is 12 years old.
  • Following PADI's recommendations for flying after diving, avoid flying within 18 hours after two or more dives, and within 12 hours after one dive in a day.
  • You must have at least one immersion in the 12 months preceding your dive with Vallarta Adventures.
  • A $25 USD equipment rental fee will be charged at check-in for certified divers.
  • To dive at La Corbeteña and El Sequial, you must hold an Advanced certification or higher. If you have an Open Water certification, you need at least 25 logged dives, or you can dive with Vallarta Adventures up to 7 days prior to evaluate your diving skills.
  • Expecting mothers are not permitted to dive.
  • A swimsuit

PADI, or the Professional Association of Diving Instructors, is a globally recognized organization that provides scuba diving training and certification. They offer a wide range of courses and certifications for divers of all levels, from beginners to advanced professionals.

Due to the experience required to dive at La Corbeteña & El Sequial, this tour is only available for those with a PADI certification.

The depth of the dives during our Private Scuba Dive at La Corbeteña & El Sequial tour can vary based on your experience. Generally, we aim for depths of around 60 feet, but for more experienced divers, we may explore even deeper waters.

All dives at Vallarta Adventures are conducted under the supervision of a dive instructor, with each group typically consisting of four participants. We strictly adhere to the buddy system, ensuring that you always have a dive partner and are never alone during your dives.

While you have the option to bring your own equipment, Vallarta Adventures also offers a complete equipment rental for a fee of $25 USD.

During the winter months, wetsuits are available upon request.

In addition to La Corbeteña and El Sequial, there are other fantastic dive sites near Puerto Vallarta.

Las Caletas is an excellent dive site, especially for beginners. Its calm waters and abundant marine life make it perfect for those looking to gain experience and enjoy a more relaxed dive.
